Debbie Mandel, a stress management expert, discusses the best ways to prevent stress. Instead of trying to treat stress, the best course of action is to prevent it. What about our diets should change in order to prevent stress? Is dating a good way to foster a stress-free life, or does the drama that can follow cause more stress? Life is not meant to be lived in constant anxiety and worry, its those moments of calm contemplation and activity that can take our breath away.
Debbie: It's always best to learn how to prevent inflammation and stress than to treat it, and the things that we can do is to exercise. I'm very big on that, activity alleviates anxiety. Find what you love to do, it's as simple as putting on your sneakers and walking out the door; you need to do that everyday. Listen to things that resonate for you. I love music as sound therapy. I think that's a great way to calm down and feel better. Cultivate positive relationships, they're your best therapists. Eat right, and to live a balanced existence. We take things very hard, we take ourselves far too seriously; why not add a bit of humor to your daily existence. If you do these things, you eat right, you exercise, you have good relationships, you take your downtime, relax into yourself; whatever hits your way. Life is a series of recoveries, enjoy the interim.
